Obtain ISIN Online

Apply for your company’s ISIN — fully online, fully compliant.

Regnum RTA files ISIN applications with NSDL and CDSL on behalf of listed and unlisted companies — for equity, preference shares, debentures, and NCDs. Submit your details online and we’ll take it from there.

What is an ISIN?

A 12-character code that uniquely identifies your security.

An ISIN — International Securities Identification Number — is a 12-character alphanumeric code that uniquely identifies a security globally. In India, ISINs are issued by the two depositories: NSDL and CDSL.

Every security held in dematerialized form must have an ISIN. That makes it a prerequisite for listing on a stock exchange, demating physical shares, and (for many private companies under the Companies Act amendments) for any future transfer of securities.

Who needs an ISIN

Required for every demat security.

Listed companies

Equity, preference shares, debentures, and bonds issued by listed companies all need an ISIN.

Unlisted public companies

Required for dematerialization under the Companies (Prospectus and Allotment of Securities) Rules.

Private companies (above thresholds)

Private companies meeting prescribed thresholds must dematerialize and obtain ISINs for their securities.

NCD / bond issuers

Issuers of non-convertible debentures, bonds, and other debt instruments held in demat form.

Pre-IPO companies

Required ahead of any public listing — a precondition for stock-exchange listing.

Mutual funds & structured products

MF schemes, REITs, InvITs, AIFs, and other structured securities require ISINs for trading and custody.

The ISIN process

Five steps from application to allotment.

Step 01

Submit your details online

Fill the online ISIN application — company particulars, security type, face value, paid-up amount, contact details. Takes about 10 minutes.

Step 02

Engagement letter & documentation

We send the RTA engagement letter, tripartite agreement template, and a documents checklist. You sign and upload the required papers through the portal or by email.

Step 03

Application filed with depository

Regnum files the ISIN application with NSDL and / or CDSL, including all required annexures — board resolution, security details, certificate of incorporation, MOA / AOA, latest financials, PAN.

Step 04

Depository review & allotment

The depository reviews the application, raises queries (which we respond to on your behalf), and allots an ISIN once approved. Typical turnaround: 7–10 working days.

Step 05

ISIN issued, you’re live

You receive your ISIN(s) along with the activation letter. Your securities can now be held and transferred in dematerialized form. Regnum continues as your RTA for ongoing registry and corporate-action work.

Common questions

ISIN FAQs

What does ISIN look like?

An Indian ISIN is a 12-character code starting with the country prefix “IN” followed by a 9-character security identifier and a check digit. Example format: INE…01.

Do I need separate ISINs for different security types?

Yes. Each security type — equity, preference shares, debentures, NCDs, etc. — requires its own ISIN. Different series within the same type may also need distinct ISINs.

Can I apply to both NSDL and CDSL?

Yes, and most listed companies do. Both depositories issue the same ISIN once the security is admitted with them — investors can hold the same security in either depository.

What if the depository raises queries?

Regnum handles depository queries on your behalf. We may come back to you for additional documents or clarifications; once provided, we respond to the depository within their stipulated timeline.

How much does ISIN application cost?

Depository fees and Regnum’s service fees are quoted on enrolment, based on security type and number of ISINs required. We share a clear, written quote before you sign the engagement letter.
